MoD's Rachel Steeden interviews Sharam Diniz!

Hello Sharam!

Thank you so much for taking time out to have a quick chat with us at MOD.

Here are a few quick questions so our readers can find out more about you!
Tell our readers a little about your journey to supermodel…
Sharam Diniz in elle portugal October 14
I was 17 years old when I was scouted and then invited to compete on 'Step Model Look 2008' organized by my local agency Step Models, which is in my hometown, Luanda. Winning was a absolute blessing, since it expanded my exposure worldwide. From there, L'Agence in Portugal offered me a contract. In 2010 I won the Ford Models Competition in Portugal and Model Look Search Office, in London. The rest they say is history! I was placed in the most important markets in modelling: New York, Paris and Milan, first with Next Worldwide and then ultimately with New York Model Management.
You have walked in runway shows for the likes of Balmain and Victoria's Secret such amazing achievements. When you first started your modelling career did you imagine you would have such great success?
Both personally and professionally, I'm a bit very tough on myself (but ambitions at the same time). Because of this, and with the help of my agencies, I have worked for the likes of: Chanel L'instant, 7 For All Mankind, Ralph Lauren Clinique and most recently Tom Ford. I have also appeared on the covers and/or featured in magazine such as: Vogue, Elle, Glamour, Interview, Sports Illustrated, etc. The fulfillment of all this hard work resulted in booking the Victoria's Secret fashion show, which was always my dream.
Who are your role models?
This is an easy one- Naomi Campbell, Gisele Bündchen, Candice Swanepoel and Izabel Goulart. There are of course others but these women have especially inspired me over the course of my career.
What are your thoughts on the work we at MOD do to help promote diversity within the fashion industry?
I think it's an absolutely amazing cause… we need more diversity in fashion, in general. The awareness your charity provides helps with this tenfold. People should be included/represented within our industry from every ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, etc… WE ARE ONE WORLD AND THIS MUST BE EMBRACED MORE!
What are your top tips for staying fit and healthy?
Sharam Diniz - Tom Ford Fragrance Ad
Mental and Physical fitness are paramount… but everyone is unique with a different set of goals. These must be achieved responsibly, in moderation and only by means of a healthy approach.
Tell us one random fact about yourself that our readers may not know?
Well I do love candy… especially chocolate (and chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream on the side, Also, I simply can't live without salty peanuts - LOL!!! On a more serious note, I have never forgotten the hard work that all of my team has contributed to help me elevate me to where I am today
What advice would you give to those wanting to become a model?
Find a good agency, listen to your booker, be patient and work hard work because, although there are no guarantees in life, this attitude and from of mind usually pay off. NEVER LOSE FOCUS ON YOUR GOALS AND DREAMS!!
Thank you so much for your time, its great speaking to you!
